Marjolijn Februari (b. 1963) is a Dutch writer and philosopher, in The Netherlands well-known for her Saturday column in newspaper de Volkskrant, in which she writes ligh-heartedly on literature, politics, justice and morality. Her debut novel, De zonen van het uitzicht (The Sons of the View), was published in 1989. De literaire kring (The Book Club), her second novel, has been in the centre of a debate on literature and engagement, and has been awarded with several literary prizes. Marjolijn has published essays and collections of essays and was awarded her PhD in philosophy for her thesis on the clash of economics and ethics. She works as a freelance public intellectual, and is a member of the Dutch Expertgroup on Aviation Safety.
